Fresh Healthy Fruit Smoothies Recipes

These fresh healthy fruit smoothies recipes can be made quickly for breakfast or snack by anyone in my family except my five year old.

healthy fruit smoothie A blender, in the hands of my five year old, is the ultimate power tool. It makes noise like a motor boat engine and grinds a variety of objects -- both food and non-food items-- to a pulp. Most importantly, it can be a live volcano, when you leave the lid off while blending. Think Mount Vesuvius spewing chunks of frozen mango over Pompeii.

Once my bananas are overly ripe, I peel them, break them into pieces and put the ripe bananas in small food storage bags to freeze for smoothies. I use the frozen bananas instead of ice to give the smoothie a thicker, more ice-cream like texture.

Basic Frozen Banana Orange Smoothie Recipe:
Makes a thick smoothie
2 frozen bananas, broken into pieces
1 cup milk (we prefer low fat) or vanilla soy milk
1 cup orange juice

Add all ingredients into blender and blend until smooth.
Makes 2 servings.

Mango, Banana, Orange Smoothie
Add 1 cup frozen (no sugar added) mango to basic recipe
If consistency is too thick, add 1/2 cup cold water

Raspberry Orange Smoothie
Add 1 cup frozen (no sugar added) raspberries to basic recipe
If consistency is too thick, add 1/2 cup cold water

Strawberry Orange Smoothie
Add 1 cup frozen (no sugar added) strawberries to basic recipe
If consistency is too thick, add 1/2 cup cold water

If you don't have any frozen bananas, try using yogurt to thicken the smoothie:
Basic Banana Orange Smoothie Recipe:
2 bananas
1 cup low fat yogurt
1 cup orange juice
4 ice cubes

Add all ingredients into blender and blend until smooth. Add 1 cup frozen fruit as directed above for different flavors.
Makes 2 servings.
