Healthy Dessert Recipes

Healthy Dessert Recipes? Try selling that to a family who has just endured an experimental round of root vegetables, brown pasta, and curry powder.

I know my family really can survive without chocolate cheesecake every night.

But what fun is that?

Yes, this website is about a healthy lifestyle, but dessert or sweet treats should not be a big deal, just part of an overall diet. We occasionally have what we call a treat after dinner because the word dessert implies a reward for eating your meal.

I realize most people should be rewarded for eating my cooking, but I don’t want my family to expect sweet, junk-filled treats after every meal.

So for when we are beyond eating a fresh fruit platter with our meals, we have the occasional after meal treat of ice cream or cookies.

When we invite friends to our house that I would like to see again, I enjoy baking with butter. Lots of butter. Paula Deen would be proud.

I am slowing building my repertoire of dessert recipes that can be made with the healthy ingredients in my pantry. I’m always looking for new ones and I’d love your suggestions. Submit them on my Recipes page.
