Healthy Breakfast Toast or "Power Toast"
My husband named this healthy breakfast toast one morning when he was on family breakfast duty. I was out of town, and his morning time management skills rival those of a hibernating bear. He and the children were running late, but he knew that I would find out if he had not served the kids a healthy breakfast.
Five year olds are brutally honest in reporting the goings-on around the house.
My husband threw a piece of whole wheat bread in the toaster, and smeared peanut butter on the hot toast. He put it on the table along with a glass of cold milk and announced that "Power Toast was on the table." He explained to my wide-eyed children that Superheroes ate Power Toast with milk before they left their houses to save the world. Could breakfast be any better than this?
My husband is an expert at marketing food to our family.
We have other versions of Power Toast, but the Superhero version with peanut butter is still a favorite.
